PETROLEIRON

Indonesia is a potential country and has enormous natural resources, but the fact shows Indonesia is far leftbehind from the other countries in the world. Presumably, government has been running programs which are dedicated to solve this problem, but the result is far from optimal. Statistic shows almost 60% of Indonesia’s populations still live in poverty, and about 90% of them are people in suburb village.

We, Petroleum Engineering Student Organization in Bandung Institute of Technology (HMTM PATRA ITB), realize our role as “Agent of Change” to bring out the solutions of those problems continously. To fulfil those purposes, we prepare an event called PETROLEIRON.

PETROLEIRON is an event that planned to be a revolution for people in Indonesia by general, and HMTM PATRA ITB in particular to participate directly in sustainable development of Indonesia. The real action is by making it as the media of gathering funds which will be allocated for Community Development program for suburb village.

To adjust HMTM PATRA ITB as a student organization in Petroleum Engineering area, Community Development program which will be held as a next step of PETROLEIRON were adopted from Community Development program that has been develop by companies in oil and gas industries as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility. By purpose, the candidates as the object of Community Development program are villages located around oil company operational area in East Java region. PETROLEIRON were hoped to be continued with Community Development program which can support people in that village by means of humanity, social, environment and economics. Considering all above, the concept of sustainability and participation as an Indicator of succeed of this program is hoping to be reach.

Theme

The main theme of PETROLEIRON is
“ Sumbangsih untuk Bangsa ”

Purpose

The purpose of PETROLEIRON are :

1. As a persuasive media for public society to reborn the nasionalism within them
and give contribution for Indonesia.

2. As a revolution for Indonesian society in general and HMTM PATRA ITB in
particular to participate directly in sustainable development of Indonesia.

3. As the media of gathering funds which allocated to Community Development
program.

4. As an information media for the people about Community Development as part of
the Corporate Social Responsibility done by oil and gas companies.

5. As a learning media for students in petroleum engineering professions,
particulary about Community Development.

Sepuluh Ribu untuk Satu

“Sepuluh Ribu untuk Satu” is one of PETROLEIRON events, with ”Proud of Being Indonesian” as the theme program. In this program, we try to reborn the nasionalism within Indonesian societies, especially the young generations. The symbol of “Proud of Being Indonesian” reflected through the collecting of 10,000 signatures. Besides, we also ask the communities, especially the young generations to participate directly in the development of Indonesia through the Community Development program by gathering funds during the events.

The target of this program is to collect 10.000 signatures from the communities which will be displayed later in the Closing Ceremony.

Time : Every Saturday and Sunday of September - Desember
Place : Bandung and Jakarta

Participants
The participants are all the element of communities, especially the young
generations lived in Bandung and Jakarta.

Petroleiron: Golf tournament

Golf Tournament is one of the PETROLEIRON events which is a media for petroleum industry communities to participate in PETROLEIRON main purpose, as the media of gathering funds for Community Development mentioned in background. In Golf Tournament, family gathering will be held to support those purposes.

Family Gathering

Family gathering is one of the event that specialized for gathering social funds
to support the main purpose of PETROLEIRON, which will be held after the Golf Tournament.

Seminar And Expo

Seminar and Expo is one of the PETROLEIRON events, with ”Peranan Industri Migas Indonesia dalam Peningkatan Taraf Pembangunan Bangsa” as the theme program. In seminar, Community Development will be discussed by some of the oil company in Indonesia, government, and some of the related institution. In expo, Community Development of oil and gas companies will be displayed.

The participants of the Expo consists of Oil Companies in Indonesia, and the

Seminar will be attended by public.

Closing Ceremony

Closing Ceremony is the main event of all the series of PETROLEIRON events, with ”Proud of Being Indonesian” as the theme. This program is an art performance performed by artists and college students of ITB. As the follow up of PETROLEIRON events, this program is functioned to be a campaign media of Community Development program, and a persuasive media for the communities to participate in the program through collecting funds during the events.
